about

i have been taking photographs for over 15 years. what started as curiosity and a simple pleasure quickly turned into a passionate affair.

through extensive travelling I have photographed many aspects of life on our planet, but my weakness is for street photography, an interest borne out by my exhibitions:

* 10-year anniversary of the chongqing municipality, china

* ‘in praise of age’, touring exhibition with the alliance française network, chongqing, guangzhou, beijing, dalian

* ‘on the edge of the middle kingdom’, yffiniac, france

* ‘yang and yin – china, upside-down’, paimpol city hall, france

i have worked for various worldwide clients, big and small, including inspired reporting, the foreign and commonwealth office, the canadian ministry of trade, emb citrus, chongqing grooves, and théâtre du grenier.

photography has given me a lot, and it is just fair to give some back. i am currently documenting the life of numbi, a london-based somalian charity; i write magazine features on photography; and i give classes in the dark art of picture-taking.

i am happy to discuss projects, teaching and assignments and answer any query. You can reach me at denis
